Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Products

What is duplex 2205 stainless steel and why does it matter?

Duplex 2205 is a dual-phase stainless steel containing 22% chromium, 5% nickel, and 3% molybdenum. Its Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) is 35, compared to PREN ~18 for standard 304 stainless. This means duplex 2205 offers approximately 6.7× greater resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments — making it the standard material for marine applications, swimming pool installations, and coastal environments. It also has twice the yield strength of 304 (450 MPa vs. ~205 MPa), allowing thinner profiles without sacrificing load capacity.

How does duplex 2205 compare to standard 304 stainless?

In identical pool deck or marine conditions, 304 stainless typically shows pitting within 2-5 years. Duplex 2205 maintains its integrity for 20+ years under the same conditions, validated by ISO 9227 salt-spray testing (200h pass per ASTM B117 ratings 4B-5B). For tempered glass railing exposed to chlorinated pool water, lake or ocean spray, or de-icing salts, duplex 2205 is the only specification that delivers a maintenance-free lifespan.

What products use duplex 2205?

Our adjustable spigots are produced from solid duplex 2205 bar stock. Brackets, glass clamps, and structural connectors are also 2205 unless otherwise specified on the product page.

Installation

What tools do I need to install glass spigots?

A torque wrench (40-50 N·m capacity), level, drill with masonry bit for concrete or wood bit for timber, marking pencil, and the supplied wedge anchors or wood screws. See our Installation Guide for the complete step-by-step procedure.

Can spigots be installed on wood, concrete, or both?

Both. Our base plates accept M10 bolts for concrete (with appropriate expansion anchors) or wood lag screws.

What glass thickness do your spigots support?

12 mm and 13.52 mm tempered or laminated glass. The rubber gaskets included accommodate both thicknesses.

What load capacity do the spigots support?

Each spigot supports up to 750 N/m of linear load per IBC 1607.8 (Glass Handrail Loading). For a standard installation with spigots at 1.2 m centers, this exceeds residential and most commercial code requirements.

Orders and Shipping

Where do you ship?

Do you offer custom finishes?

We stock matte black and brushed satin finishes. Custom PVD finishes (gold, copper, bronze) are available for orders of 20+ units with 4-week lead time. Call 514-295-3883 for quotes.

Warranty and Returns

What's the warranty on your products?

Limited lifetime warranty against structural failure due to material defects. See Warranty Policy for complete terms.

Can I return unused product?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery in original packaging. The buyer pays return shipping. Custom-finish orders are non-returnable.
