Limited Lifetime Warranty
GV Hardware warrants its duplex 2205 stainless steel railing hardware against structural failure due to material defects for the lifetime of the original installation, subject to the terms and exclusions below.
Material Performance
Our duplex 2205 products are validated to the following industry specifications:
- Material grade: UNS S31803/S32205 duplex stainless steel
- Composition: 22% Cr / 5% Ni / 3% Mo (per ASTM A276)
- Corrosion resistance: PREN equal to or greater than 35
- Salt spray testing: ISO 9227 / ASTM B117, 200 hours pass at rating 4B-5B
- Yield strength: 450 MPa minimum
- Load capacity: 750 N/m linear (per IBC 1607.8)
These specifications support an expected service life of 20+ years in marine and chlorinated environments, including coastal exposure, swimming pool decks, and de-icing salt zones.
What Is Covered
- Structural failure (cracking, breakage, deformation) of the base metal due to manufacturing or material defect
- Corrosion (pitting, crevice, surface) of the duplex 2205 material itself under normal use conditions
- Fastener thread integrity (stripping or seizure) due to material defect
What Is Not Covered
- Cosmetic finish wear (scratches, polish loss, dulling) caused by abrasive cleaning, abrasive contact, or aggressive chemicals such as chlorine bleach at concentrations above 5%, hydrochloric acid, or sulfuric acid
- Damage caused by improper installation, including incorrect torque, missing gaskets, or fastening to unsuitable substrate
- Damage caused by impact, vandalism, or natural disaster (earthquake, fire, flood)
- Galvanic corrosion caused by contact with dissimilar metals not specified in our installation guide
- Modification of the product (drilling, welding, grinding) by a party other than GV Hardware
Claim Process
- Contact us via our contact form or email with your order number, photos of the failed component, and a description of the failure and installation environment.
- Our technical team will respond within 5 business days.
- If the claim is approved, we will ship a replacement at no cost. Original installation labor is not covered.
- The replacement product carries the original warranty period (no warranty reset).
Limitation of Liability
This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied. GV Hardware's liability is strictly limited to the replacement value of the defective product. We are not responsible for consequential damages, including labor costs, water damage, or loss of use.
This warranty is transferable with the property and applies only to product purchased directly from GV Hardware or an authorized dealer.
